Introduction
The DAM1 series circuit breakers are engineered to conduct current seamlessly in normal operation and are adept at swiftly disconnecting during short circuits, overloads, or inadmissible bucking. Additionally, they provide reliable operational actuation and tripping of electric circuit components. These circuit breakers are optimally designed for electric units with an operational voltage up to 400V and a rated current ranging from 12.5A to 1600A.
They meet the stringent requirements of EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2 standards.
Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:
Thermal Protection Function: (For safeguarding under overload conditions)
The thermal protection is achieved through a bimetal mechanism, which consists of two metals with distinct expansion coefficients. When heated, the bimetal bends towards the metal with a lower expansion coefficient. This bending action activates a notch that opens the breaker mechanism, thereby interrupting the circuit. The bending speed of the bimetal directly correlates with the magnitude of the current, as higher currents generate more heat. Thus, the bimetal ensures overcurrent protection by interrupting the circuit during load currents exceeding the rated limit.
Magnetic Protection Function:For safeguarding under short circuit conditions, another critical function of the breaker is toshield the connected circuit from shortcircuits. Short circuits may result fromphase-to-phase contact or phase-to-ground contact. During a short circuit,an extremely high current flows through the cables, necessitating a swiftdisconnection of the system energy. The breaker mustact instantaneously to provide thermal protection, thusensuring prompt circuit interruption to safeguard the loadit is connected to. This function is performed by a mechanical openingmechanism thatresponds to the magnetic field generated by the short circuit currentandrapidly operates todisconnect the circuit, providing effective short circuit protection.
