Introduction

The DAM1 series circuit breakers are expertly engineered to conduct current seamlessly under normal conditions and to efficiently disconnect during short circuits, overloads, and unacceptable voltage drops. They also facilitate the operational actuation and tripping of electric circuit components. These circuit breakers are designed to be utilized in electrical units with an operational voltage limited to 400V, accommodating a rated current range from 12.5A to 1600A.

They meet the stringent standards set by EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2.

Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:

Thermal Protection Function: (Ensuring protection under overload conditions)
Thermal protection is provided by a bimetal component, which consists of two metals with distinct thermal expansion coefficients. Upon heating, the bimetal bends towards the metal with a lower expansion rate, releasing a notch that activates the breaker mechanism and disables the circuit breaker. The bending speed of the bimetal is directly proportional to the magnitude of the current passing through it, as higher currents generate more heat. This dynamic ensures that the circuit breaker offers robust overcurrent protection at load currents exceeding the rated current.
Magnetic Protection Function:(Ensuring protection under short circuit conditions) An additional critical function of the circuit breaker is toshield the connected circuit against shortcircuits. Short circuits may result fromthe contact between phases orphase-to-ground contact. Due to theextremely high current that flows through the cables during a short circuit, the energy systemmust be interrupted swiftly by the thermalprotection mechanism. The breaker mustperform an instant disconnection to safeguard the loadit is connected to. The component responsible for thiscritical function is a mechanical openingmechanism thatis activated bythe magnetization effect caused by the magnetic field generated during a short circuit.
