Introduction

The DAM1 series circuit breakers are expertly engineered to maintain the flow of current in normal operating conditions, while swiftly disconnecting in the event of short circuits, overload situations, or unauthorized modifications. These breakers are also capable of performing operational actuation and disconnection of electric circuit segments. Ideal for use in electrical systems with an operational voltage capped at 400V, they support a rated current range from 12.5 to 1600A.

These circuit breakers are meticulously designed to meet the stringent standards of EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2.

Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:

Thermal Protection Function: (For safeguarding against overload conditions)
The thermal protection is provided by a bimetal component, which is a fusion of two metals with different thermal expansion coefficients. When heated, the bimetal bends toward the metal with a lower expansion coefficient. This bending triggers a notch that assists in disengaging the breaker mechanism, thus cutting off the current flow. The bending speed of the bimetal is directly proportional to the current passing through the breaker, as an increase in current generates more heat. Thus, the bimetal ensures overcurrent protection by responding to load currents exceeding the rated current.
Magnetic Protection Function:(For safeguarding against short circuit conditions) Another essential role of the breaker is toshield the connected circuit from shortcircuits. Short circuits can occur due tophase-to-phase contact orphase-to-ground contact. Since amassive current surge occurs during a short circuit, the system's energy flowmust be interrupted swiftly dueto thermal protection. The breaker shouldexecute an instant disconnection to safeguard the loadit is linked to. The component responsible for thisaction is a mechanical releasemechanism thatactivates throughthe magnetic field generated by the short circuit current.
