Introduction
The DAM1 series circuit breakers are engineered to conduct current under normal conditions and effectively interrupt it during short circuits, overloads, or any inadmissible bucking. They are also designed for operational actuation and tripping of electric circuit segments. These circuit breakers are ideal for electric units with an operational voltage ceiling of 400V, accommodating rated currents ranging from 12.5A to 1600A.
They meet the rigorous standards of EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2.
Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:
Thermal Protection Function: (For overload protection)
The bimetal component, which ensures thermal protection, is crafted from a combination of two metals with differing expansion rates under heat. When heated, the bimetal bends towards the metal with the lower expansion rate, releasing a notch that triggers the breaker mechanism to disable the circuit. The bending speed directly correlates to the current passing through the breaker, as an increased current generates more heat. Thus, the bimetal effectively provides overcurrent protection at load currents exceeding the rated threshold.
Magnetic Protection Function: (For short circuit protection)Another critical function of the breaker is tosafeguard the connected circuitagainst short circuits. These mayoccur due to the contact between phasesor between a phase and the ground. Duringa short circuit, an extremely high currentflows through the cables, necessitatingthe system to break power swiftly due tothermal protection. The breaker mustperform an instantaneous operation toprotect the connected load. Thisfunction is accomplished by a mechanicalopening mechanism, activated bymagnetization from the magnetic field generated by the short circuit current.
