Introduction

The DAM1 series circuit breakers are meticulously designed to ensure seamless current conduction during standard operations, while providing robust protection by swiftly switching off during short circuits, overloads, and inadmissible voltage drops. These breakers are ideal for electric installations with an operational voltage up to 400V and a rated current ranging from 12.5A to 1600A.

They adhere to the stringent standards set by EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2.

Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:

Thermal Protection Function: (Protection against overload conditions)
The bimetal strip, the heart of thermal protection, consists of two metals with distinct expansion rates when heated. As the bimetal warms, it bends towards the metal with the lower expansion rate, triggering a notch that facilitates the breaker's mechanism to open and interrupt the current. The bending speed of the bimetal is directly proportional to the current passing through, as more current generates more heat. Thus, the thermal protection function activates to safeguard against overcurrent conditions by utilizing the bimetal strip when load currents exceed the rated limits.
Magnetic Protection Function:(Protection under short circuit conditions) Another critical function of the breaker is toshield the connected circuit against shortcircuits. Short circuits may arise due tothe contact between phases orphase-ground contact. Given the veryhigh current that flows during a short circuit, the system's energyneeds to be interrupted quickly, surpassingthermal protection capabilities. The breaker mustperform an instantaneous disconnection to protect the connected load.This crucial function is executed by a mechanicalrelease mechanism thatactivates throughmagnetization generated by the magnetic field created by the short circuit current.
