Introduction
The DAM1 series circuit breakers are expertly engineered to conduct current under standard operating conditions, and to safely interrupt circuits during short circuits, overloads, and inadmissible voltage drops. Whether for operational actuation or tripping of electric circuit parts, these breakers are indispensable. They are meticulously designed for electric units with an operating voltage capped at 400V and a rated current ranging from 12.5A to 1600A.
These circuit breakers meet the rigorous standards of EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2, ensuring top-tier performance and reliability.
Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:
Thermal Protection Function: (For overload protection)
The thermal protection feature is accomplished by a bimetal strip, which is a composite of two metals with varying thermal expansion rates. When heated, the strip bends toward the metal with the lower expansion rate, triggering a mechanism that opens the breaker. The bending rate of the bimetal strip is directly proportional to the current flowing through the breaker, as higher currents generate more heat. This ensures that the breaker provides effective overcurrent protection by activating the thermal protection at load currents exceeding the rated current.
Magnetic Protection Function:(For short circuit protection) One of the critical functions of the breaker is tosafeguard the connected circuit against shortcircuits. Short circuits can occur due to the contactbetween phases or between a phase and ground, resulting in extremely high current flow through the cables. To prevent damage, the system's energymust be cut off instantly, as thermal protectionwould be too slow. The breaker mustoperate instantaneously to protect the connectedload. This critical function is performed by amechanical opening mechanism thatis activated bymagnetization caused by the magnetic field generated by the short circuit current.
