Introduction

The DAM1 series circuit breakers are expertly engineered for the seamless conduction of current under normal conditions and efficient interruption during short circuits, overloads, and unacceptable bucking. They also facilitate operational actuation and circuit part tripping. Specifically designed for electric units, these breakers operate at a maximum voltage of 400V, accommodating a rated current range from 12.5A to an impressive 1600A.

These circuit breakers fully comply with the rigorous standards of EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2.

Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:

Thermal Protection Function: (For safeguarding against overload conditions)
Comprising a bimetal, which delivers thermal protection, this component is a fusion of two distinct metals with varying thermal expansion coefficients. Upon heating, the bimetal bends towards the metal with the lesser expansion, releasing a notch that triggers the breaker mechanism, thus disabling the breaker. The bimetal's bending speed is directly proportional to the current passing through the breaker, as higher currents generate more heat. Consequently, the bimetal ensures overcurrent protection at load currents surpassing the rated threshold.
Magnetic Protection Function:(For safeguarding against short circuit conditions) Another critical function of the breaker is toprotect the connected circuit against shortcircuits. A short circuit may occur due to thecontact between phases or betweena phase and the ground. In such events,an extremely high current will flow through the cables, necessitatingthe immediate interruption of system energy,which thermal protection may not achieve quickly enough. Hence, the breaker mustperform an instantaneous tripping to safeguard theconnected loads. This is achieved through amechanical opening mechanism triggeredby the magnetic field generated by theshort circuit current's magnetization effect.
