Introduction
The DAM1 series circuit breakers are engineered to conduct current seamlessly under normal conditions and to interrupt it during short circuits, overloads, and inadmissible bucking. They are also designed for operational actuation and tripping of electric circuit segments. Ideal for applications in electrical units with an operative voltage limit of 400V and a rated current range from 12.5A to 1600A.
Compliant with stringent standards: EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2.
Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:
Thermal Protection Function: (Provides protection under overload conditions)
The thermal protection is facilitated by a bimetal, composed of two metals with distinct expansion coefficients under heat. When heated, the bimetal bends towards the metal with the lower expansion coefficient, triggering a notch that releases the breaker mechanism to disable it. The bending speed of the bimetal is directly proportional to the current magnitude, as increased current heightens heat generation. Thus, the bimetal ensures overcurrent protection at load currents exceeding the rated current.
Magnetic Protection Function:(Provides protection under short circuit conditions) The breaker possesses an additional function tosafeguard the connected circuit against shortcircuits. Short circuits can occur due to phase-phase contact orphase-ground contact. In such scenarios, excessive current flows through the cables, necessitatingrapid interruption of system energy, beyond the thermal protection capabilities. The breaker mustperform an instantaneous trip to safeguard the loadit is connected to. This function is managed by a mechanical openingmechanism, whichoperates based onmagnetization induced by the magnetic field generated by the short circuit current.
