Introduction
The DAM1 series circuit breakers are masterfully crafted to conduct current seamlessly under normal conditions, and to skillfully interrupt it during short circuits, overloads, and operational disruptions. These circuit breakers are designed to operate efficiently within electric systems that have a rated voltage of up to 400V and a current range spanning from 12.5 to 1600A. Built to offer robust protection, these breakers ensure the reliability and safety of your electrical installations.
They strictly adhere to the rigorous standards of EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2, ensuring top-notch performance and reliability.
Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:
Thermal Protection Function: (Ensures protection under overload conditions)
The bimetallic strip, integral to the thermal protection mechanism, is composed of two metals with differing thermal expansion coefficients. When heated, the bimetal bends towards the metal with a lower expansion rate, thereby triggering the breaker mechanism to disconnect the circuit. The bending speed correlates directly with the magnitude of the current passing through the breaker, as higher currents generate more heat. This sophisticated mechanism ensures effective overcurrent protection by tripping the breaker when load currents exceed the rated threshold.
Magnetic Protection Function:(Provides protection under short circuit conditions) Another critical function of the breaker is tosafeguard the connected circuit againstshort circuits. These can occur due tocontact between different phases orcontact between a phase and the ground. At thispoint, immense currents can surge through the cables, necessitatingan immediate interruption by the systemto prevent thermal damage. The breaker mustinstantly disconnect to protectthe connected load. The component responsible forthis rapid response is a mechanical openingmechanism thatis activated by themagnetic field generated by the short circuit current.
