Introduction

The DAM1 series circuit breakers are exceptional devices crafted to handle electrical currents under standard conditions and adeptly interrupt them during short circuits, overloads, or unacceptable decreases in power. These circuit breakers are meticulously engineered for superior performance in electrical units, designed to operate efficiently with a voltage threshold of up to 400V, accommodating a broad range of rated currents from 12.5A to 1600A. This makes them ideal for diverse industrial applications.

These circuit breakers adhere to the stringent standards outlined in EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2, ensuring utmost reliability and safety.


Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:

Thermal protection function: (Designed to safeguard against overload conditions)
The thermal protection mechanism utilizes a bimetallic component, ingeniously crafted from two metals with distinct thermal expansion coefficients. As the bimetal heats up, it bends towards the metal with a lesser expansion rate, thereby releasing a latch that triggers the opening mechanism of the breaker. This carefully calibrated process ensures that when the current exceeds the rated threshold, the bimetal swiftly acts to disengage the circuit, providing robust protection against overloads by harnessing the direct correlation between current size and heat generation.
Magnetic protection function: (Protects against short circuit conditions) Another pivotal function of the breaker is to safeguard the connected circuit effectively against short circuits, which can occur due to the phases coming into contact with one another or contact between a phase and the ground. During such events, an exceedingly high current surges through the cables, necessitating an expedited disconnection to prevent damage. The breaker must ensure an immediate disconnection to shield the connected load from potential harm. This critical function is executed by a mechanical opening mechanism that is promptly activated, driven by the magnetic forces generated within the circuit by the intense short circuit current, ensuring swift and decisive action.
