Introduction

The DAM1 series circuit breakers are meticulously engineered to manage current flow in normal conditions and to interrupt it during short circuits, overloads, and other inadmissible disturbances. These breakers also facilitate operational switching and tripping of electric circuit components. Specifically designed for electric units with an operational voltage of up to 400V, they can handle a rated current range from 12.5A to 1600A.

These circuit breakers fully comply with the stringent requirements of EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2 standards.

Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:

Thermal Protection Function: (Used to safeguard against overload conditions)
The thermal protection mechanism employs a bimetal strip, crafted from two metals with varying thermal expansion rates. As the bimetal heats, it bends towards the metal with a lower extension rate, activating a notch that triggers the breaker's opening mechanism. The bending rate of the bimetal is directly correlated to the current flow because an increase in current results in an increase in heat. This ensures the breaker provides reliable overcurrent protection at loads exceeding the rated current.
Magnetic Protection Function(Used to guard against short circuit conditions) Another crucial role of the breaker is tosafeguard the connected circuit againstshort circuits. Short circuits can occur dueto phase-to-phase contact or phase-to-groundcontact. During a short circuit, extremelyhigh currents surge through the cables. To mitigate this,the system must disconnect quickly, enabled bythe thermal protection mechanism. The breakermust execute an instantaneous disconnect toprotect the connected load. This essentialfunction is performed by a mechanical releasemechanism thatis triggered by themagnetic field created by the short circuit current.
