Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:

Thermal Protection Function: (Safeguarding against overload scenarios)
The thermal protection is ingeniously provided by a bimetallic component, a union of two metals with distinct thermal expansion properties. Upon being heated, the bimetal bends towards the metal with a lower expansion coefficient, thereby triggering a mechanism that facilitates the opening of the breaker. This phenomenon occurs in direct correlation with the current magnitude traversing through the breaker, as increased current results in heightened thermal activity. Consequently, this ensures that the breaker delivers exceptional overcurrent protection, engaging at load currents surpassing the rated threshold, thanks to this ingenious bimetal mechanism.
Magnetic Protection Function: (Critical for safeguarding during short circuit incidents) Another pivotal role of these breakers is to provide robust protection for the connected circuits against the perils of short circuits. These incidents may arise due to the direct contact between phases or phase-to-ground interactions. Such events result in the flow of extraordinarily high currents through the cables, necessitating an immediate cessation of system energy flow.
