Introduction
The DAM1 series circuit breakers are expertly engineered to efficiently conduct current under normal conditions and swiftly disconnect during short circuits, overloads, and inadmissible bucking. Additionally, they perform operational actuation and tripping of electric circuit parts. These breakers are specifically designed for electric units with an operative voltage capped at 400V, accommodating rated currents ranging from 12.5 to 1600A.
They fully comply with the stringent requirements of EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2 standards.
Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breakers:
Thermal Protection Function: (For safeguarding against overload conditions)
The thermal protection is facilitated by a bimetal component, comprised of two metals with varying thermal expansion coefficients. When heated, the bimetal bends towards the metal with a lower expansion rate, releasing a notch that triggers the breaker mechanism to open, thereby disconnecting the circuit. The bending speed of the bimetal is directly proportional to the current passing through the breaker, as higher current generates more heat. This ensures the breaker provides precise overload protection by activating at load currents surpassing the rated threshold.
Magnetic Protection Function:(For safeguarding against short circuit conditions) Another crucial function of the breaker is toprovide robust protection to the connected circuit against short circuits.Short circuits can arise due to the contact between phases or between phase and ground. With short circuits, a massive current surge occurs, necessitating an immediate disconnection to prevent damage. In such events, the system energy must be cut off rapidlyto circumvent thermal overload. The breaker mustinstantaneously open to shield the connected load. This protective action is executed by amechanical opening mechanism, which operatesthrough magnetization induced by the magnetic field created by the short circuit current.
